Fux0r Becomes the Fifth Tracker To Use Gazelle Code

August 05, 08 by sharky   364  views

A new adult tracker aptly named ‘Fux0r’ is only the fifth BitTorrent tracker to utilize the shiny new Gazelle codebase. Aside from What.cd, the other three include nTorrents, Vortex Network and SaveTheCoratee. Look to sign up to Fux0r at http://gazelle.fux0r.eu.

Project Gazelle, the revolutionary tracker codebase from the creative minds behind What.cd, is still at least two weeks away from an official first release candidate, yet it’s already available to aspiring BitTorrent communities through What.cd:

OVH Hosting Outlaws All P2P/Torrents On Their Servers

August 04, 08 by sharky   678  views

Once revered to be an affordable safe-haven for torrenting, OVH is beginning to crack down on anyone caught using P2P/BitTorrent on their servers. This also includes the thousands of renters who are using the cheap Kimsufi package as a makeshift seedbox - indeed, this is sad news for seedbox owners and resellers alike. OVH - longtime regarded as a seedbox provider that "turns a blind eye" to illegal activities, is now complying with copyright-infringement letters that are being forwarded to them in regards to torrents being found on their servers.

The most memorable OVH shutdown has been Vortex Network, which was hosted there. Fortunately for them they were given a 48-hour grace period, instead of having the rug pulled out from under them unbeknownst and without warning, as was the case for all those trackers hosted in Malaysia. However, we can’t help but feel somewhat personally responsible for OVH’s decision, since the original OVH complaint had our FileShareFreak article included as proof that it is, "indeed a warez site":

Seeding Tips & Tricks for Specific Private Trackers

August 03, 08 by sharky   1,344  views

We probably don’t have to tell you that maintaining a good sharing ratio on your private trackers is crucial to keeping the account. Period. However, no tracker is alike - we’d like to break this down a little further and delve into the seeding secrets behind individual trackers.

As an example, new users to What.cd and Waffles will wonder how it can ever be possible to make it to ‘Power User’, when the torrents just don’t seem to seed. TorrentLeech and RevTT users may find it extremely easy to buffer their accounts in no time at all at these 0day trackers. So instead of seeing "This account has been disabled", we’d rather you be privy to a great buffer.

Vortex Leader Resigns, Spawns Spinoff Site from Ex-Staff

August 02, 08 by sharky   1,638  views

Rachel Faith, the sysop/admin of Vortex Network, has resigned today after strong allegations in connection with a Pay2Leech scandal and a global "BitTorrent Domination" mindset. Vortex staffers have been jumping ship even before her tended resignation / impeachment, and even What.cd - who supplied the Project Gazelle codebase and worked closely throughout the developmental stages - has now officially disassociated themselves from any connection to Vortex.

Meanwhile, a brand-new Mac tracker comprised of ex-Vortex staff is using the Gazelle codebase (with What.cd endorsement), making it only the fourth tracker to use What.cd’s much-applauded Gazelle.

Hackers Steal ‘User Database’ From Popular Private Tracker

August 01, 08 by sharky   1,241  views

Last weekend, www.TTi.nu - the popular Swedish/English private tracker, became the latest BitTorrent site to fall prey to hackers. But what makes this particular situation a little different is that the hackers didn’t shut down the site (or even the tracker), or attempt to cause any other disturbances. Eerily, and uncharacteristically of most hackers, they wanted to slip in and out completely unnoticed - not wreak havoc as expected. They had a specific target; a clear agenda. The hackers wanted the entire site database of all users’ information - and they were successful.

Crack/Keygen Sites That Are Safe To Use

July 30, 08 by sharky   13,671  views

Blindly searching the web for cracks & keygens is about as smart as using Limewire to search for antivirus software - something not well-advised. Undoubtedly and unfortunately, the number of crack sites with overtones of a malicious agenda heavily outweigh sites that just want to serve up the honest goods. Having said that, there actually are quite a few creditable ‘crack’ sites that won’t try to bombard you with full-screen popup ads, or commandeer your computer into a spam-loving Kraken or Srizbi Botnet army. We’ve done the hard work for you, and present a list of "clean" crack sites for all the latest warez.

The Biggest List of Private BitTorrent Trackers on the ‘Net

July 25, 08 by sharky   4,164  views

Private Trackers:
924

We’ve come up with a colossal list of more than 900 private trackers. After countless requests for it, we finally got around to putting all of our listed private trackers on one page. You won’t find a more complete collection anywhere else on the ‘Net. As of date of publication - July 25/08 - all trackers are online. In most instances, trackers with less than 50 active torrents were not included here.

Due to WordPress limitations, we had to remove the URL links. For this, we recommend the Linkification Add-on for Firefox - it will convert these text URLs into clickable links.

- This denotes a new entry to the list.

Private Trackers For Sale on eBay? What’s Next?

July 22, 08 by sharky   1,384  views

From Shill Bidders to fake Feedback Ratings, fraudulent listings and hijacked accounts, eBay has always been a haven for scammers. So maybe that’s why we’re not surprised to see prominent BitTorrent trackers up for bid there.

Yes, folks - for only $0.99 USD you can bid on an invite to What.cd, STMusic.org and even Torrent-Damage. And shipping is included! Got a little more to part with? Why not scoop up TL for $25?

We personally like this What.cd seller’s ‘disclaimer’ to eBay, to justify his actions:

"Note to ebay: I hold an account on this website and possess this invite, this is my PERSONALLY owned invitation that I may choose to use either way I please I donated to what.cd to obtain this invitation so i hold all grounds to do what ever i wish this is in accordance with this the listing should not be removed. Thank you for your understanding."

We Call Bullshit: If What.cd finds out who you are, you and your entire invite tree will be disabled permanently.

ThePirateSociety.org - A New ‘Torrent Invites’ Forum

July 21, 08 by sharky   1,414  views

We can never have too many ‘Tracker Invite’ forums and BitTorrent discussion boards. Introducing The Pirate Society - a welcome addition to the world of private trackers and P2P hangouts. We interviewed N3v3R, the sysop/admin of TPS, and he wants to make it clear that invite trading is strictly forbidden:

"We are a new bittorrent discussion community that deals with tracker invites. We are a strictly no trade forum meaning that we have the backing of many trackers and have many Community Reps here to help out with specific concerns, including tracker recruitment."

R5 Movies and Release Dates

July 20, 08 by sharky   4,866  views

In recent times, the piracy "scene" has been shifting away from DVD Screeners (DVDScr) in favour of the newer (and superior) R5 movie format. To quote Wiki, "In an effort to compete with movie piracy in Russia, the movie industry chose to create a new format for DVD releases that could be produced more quickly and less expensively than traditional DVD releases. R5 releases differ from normal releases in that they lack both the image post-processing and special features that are common on DVD releases. This allows the film to be released for sale at the same time that DVD Screeners are released." R5’s are an excellent alternative to those who want a good copy of a film long before a scheduled DVD release date. But what makes the R5 format so remarkable is that their "release dates" are somewhat predictable, and even published.

Private Trackers With The Best Pre-Times

July 17, 08 by sharky   3,668  views

Most of you are probably already aware that "elite" private BitTorrent sites are locked in a perpetual race to get the latest ‘warez’, trying to outdo their competition and claim the bragging rights for having a new release "first". For those of you that have more than one good private tracker, likely you’ve noticed that some just seem to have an advantageous angle to "the scene" and, time-after-time, come up with the latest torrents before anyone else. Certainly, if you have an account at ScT - notoriously known for the best pre-times among all private trackers - this is not new information to you. Users of public trackers such as Mininova and ThePirateBay normally have to wait for the ‘trickle-down’ effect; that is, until a torrent gets ‘leaked’ out from one of the major 0day trackers. Thus, the pre-time for a scene-released torrent at mininova will be far longer than the pre-time at ScT.

So, which tracker has the best pre-times? And how is this calculated?

Stop Burning DVDs - And Stream Movies To Your (HD)TV

July 15, 08 by sharky   1,138  views

After servicing me faithfully for almost three years and through thousands of disks, my DivX-certified Toshiba SD-7980 DVD player finally (and thankfully) kicked the bucket. She had been extremely temperamental as of late - DVDs that used to play fine would no longer; movies that had perfect playback on my PC could not be trusted to do the same. The media itself also became an issue - if there was a smudge or small scratch, presto - the disk was pooched. The Toshiba became an embarrassment to my techie prowess. It was long overdue to snatch up a new DVD unit.

But not so fast - I wanted something capable of HD playback, as well as Blu-Ray compatibility. I also needed something capable of playing my 700-disk strong DVD movie collection (consisting mostly of XviD/DivX *.avi files - 6 movies per disk). Certainly, there are now a handful of Blu-Ray players that are DivX-certified and could possibly handle the job quite nicely. However, I don’t even own any retail Blu-Ray disks, nor have I been to a video store in years. I came to the realization that I don’t need a Blu-Ray player - my entire collection entails stuff I’ve downloaded from the ‘Net. What I need is something that will seamlessly playback media files from my PC to my Sony 32" HDTV.

After some careful consideration, I decided to opt for a unit that would stream any type of movie file straight to my television, without the headaches involved with HD demux/remuxing, converting, and DVD media disks. But the real deciding factor is all those HD & x264 Blu-Ray rips that are popping up all over BitTorrent sites, perhaps a precursor to the eventual phase-out of DivX/XviD. For less than half the price of a DivX-compatible Blu-Ray player, I opted for the HDX-900 Networked Media Tank Player for $219 USD. I was not let down.

Vortex Network - The New Mac Tracker

July 14, 08 by sharky   4,426  views

Mac users have long played second fiddle to Windows when it comes to private BitTorrent sites. Most Mac/Apple enthusiasts have to rely on ‘general’ trackers that offer a special section dedicated to them. That’s where Brokenstones came along and filled in a much-needed Mac torrent void - sorrowfully, they were dealt a staggering blow two weeks ago when the Malaysian government ordered the closure of torrent sites. Fortunately, as we have seen (and demonstrated) in the past, destroying a site is futile if the community and its ideals are allowed to remain. Although rebuilding a lost torrent site takes a monumental effort, the dedicated communities surrounding them are invariably capable and motivated enough to do so.

Enter Vortex Network - the new torrent tracker devoted solely to Mac.

Seedbox Providers That Offer uTorrent WebUI Hosting

µTorrent WebUI
Seedbox Hosts

MyBOX PFCorner

SeedboxWorld
JMH Services
Santrex

EliteSeedbox

If you’ve ever used a seedbox with TorrentFlux, you may have been a little overwhelmed by all of the options, let alone the TFlux interface. So if you’re looking to get into the seedbox world, but want to keep all the functionality of your trustworthy µTorrent client, you may be better served by using a provider that offers the µTorrent WebUI interface. It’s almost identical to µTorrent in every way - what could be easier?

But perhaps the best reason to lean towards a seedbox with WebUI is the speed advantage over TorrentFlux. Since WebUI doesn’t use as many server-hungry resources (such as PHP and MySQL), this saves additional memory for the seedbox, which translates directly to faster up/download transfers and more active torrents. Linux users who run a BT client through a command line already know this fact: — less GUI = higher speeds.

We tested out a few different seedbox hosting providers that offer µTorrent WebUI as an alternative to TorrentFlux, and we found the speeds to be superior to that of TFlux. Below are four different WebUI providers running four different torrents:
